Hey Everyone,
First, I want to thank y'all for supporting not only through prayers but also financially as well. You have been such a blessing and encouragement to me.
Ok, so this past week I have been on spring break and doing a lot of preparations for South America. There were a number of odds and ends, such as some lovely shots, shopping and a few emails to send. But as I took time this week to reflect on what I will be doing for the summer, I realized that my main concern was not about getting into the countries (Colombia, Peru, Ecuador) nor on the difficulties I will face but on the people I will be working with (everyone from the missionaries I will live with to the teams coming from the States to the children we will be caring for) and on my coming home. I know I will not want to leave, but when I do and come home to North America, I do not want to be judgmental of it, nor angry but humble. Humble that the Lord choose me to live in such a "materially" blessed place. Its a struggle even now. And when I am in South America, my prayer is that God will move me out of the way so that He can receive the glory. Theses are my biggest and main concerns at the moment.
In additions, I recently found out that I will need most of my support, if not all, in by April 20th. Would you please join me in asking God for His provision and wisdom?
"Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus
came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But
for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of
sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example
for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen." (1 Timothy 1:15-17)
The summer of 2013 I spent in Peru with Inca Link as an intern. I fell in love and left my heart there, in Peru.

Just the Beginning...
Last
summer I had a one of kind of experience in St. Louis. For those of you who
don't know. I was running short term mission trips. In short, teams came every
week and my co-workers and I were in charge of leading these teams in various
activities. My job was to train the teens to run a VBS (Vacation Bible School)
at a local inner city Christian school. The place we stayed did not have nice
facilities and the food not very appetizing. So to say the least, I learned a
lot about leadership, places where I am weak but also places where I am strong.
I am very grateful for last summer because I grew so much!
All
that to say the Lord has provided another opportunity to yet again do missions.
This time the opportunity is in Peru. The organization is called Inca Link. I
first heard of them last February during World Christian Week at CIU (Columbia
International Univ.) I prayed about working with Inca Link then but did
not sense the Lord leading me to work with them at that time. Well over
Christmas break I reconnected with Inca Link! I began to pray heavily about
working with them I knew, very much that I wanted to. I am very pleased to
inform you that the Lord is leading me in this direction. In addition, after
much prayer, filling out an application and having an interview I was accepted
as an intern!!!
I will be responsible for leading short term
mission trips in Peru; along with this I will be working in children’s homes,
providing daycare for children whose families work in the garbage dump,
construction projects, and feeding the hungry. (I’m super stoked!). I will
leave on May 20th (just four days after I get out of school) and
will be in Colombia for a few days of training, them Peru for most of the
summer and then at the end of the summer in Ecuador for debriefing. I should be
home sometime around August 10th.
I am soooooo excited to have such a wonderful
opportunity to serve the Lord!!!! I look forward to getting hands on experience
in the mission field. I would like to ask you to partner with me in prayer.
Here are a few ways you can pray for me: preparation as I leave and adjust to a
new culture and language, for safety, health, that my team and I will be
a refreshing/encouraging to the locals and missionaries that we will be working
with, and for my heart to be open to what God wants to teach me.
In addition, I need to raise support
for the trip. I need to raise $3,500 for the summer to pay expenses like
airfare, room and board, and transportation in the country. If you would
like to partner with me financially, you can do so online at http://incalink.org/donate/donate-online/
then just look under “Interns” for my name or send your contribution to me at:
Inca Link International
P.O. Box 1321
Boone, NC 28607
Please make all checks payable to "Inca
Link International." All donations
are tax deductable. If you would like to receive updates about what is
happening in Peru or prayer request please come back here to my blog. I am
going to try to blog weekly but I can’t make any promises.
Thank you so much for reading this and visiting Bolsillo Caliente (hot pocket). May the Lord bless you and keep you.
